Take it slow and avoid pressuring your child:  Sometimes when parents realize their kids are interested in acting, they push them to get in front of agents and move them along the process quickly, when really they aren’t ready yet.  An actor is not about being cute and passionate (alone), but about being trained and being ready to act, about having learned to deal with fears and insecurities, and having learned to work with many others and be in front of others. Every child is different. Sometimes a parent can actually derail a child from moving ahead with what is his/her true passion because the child isn’t yet equipped to deal with all the other factors that impact acting. I think the most valuable thing we learned from our acting coach is that there is no room for disappointment.  Acting auditions and practices are about enhancing skills.  Go in without major expectations, and if there are any leave them there when you leave. Remember how long it takes most people to create the path for their career.  It is also true for children. Leave the guidance and the pressure to the acting teachers/coaches. Be the supportive parent ensuring that your child has the positive environment to develop strengths.
